Mahathma Gandhi used different methods in the Freedom Movement. Journalism was one among them. When he related the aspects of his Struggle and voiced against British Government, he shared them with the people of India through many journals like “Harijan”, “Young India”, “Navjeevan” etc. Also through books. He was continuously writing on social evils like untouchability. He was also writing articles on economic aspects focusing on Indian environment. He had perfect vision for everything. He wrote in strong terms on issues relating to Freedom Movement. It arose patriotic fervor throughout India. And people read his journals and discussed different aspects of the struggle. They could able to connect the problems of the country with their own and understood that Gandhiji’s message are the solution. And such was the power of pen!
How relevant Gandhiji? The answer is Amara Bapu Chintana. A multi lingual journal focuses on Gandhian thought and spreads his legacy. But why?
After the days of Independence, people are forgetting the great values cherished by Bapu, slowly. The ways of the administration is deteriorating. Corruption is the root cause. Rural development, honesty, non violence, good conduct, Khadi and rural industries, simple living envisaged by Gandhiji is being forgotten by people. But Gandhi thoughts are still relevant. That is what Amara Bapu Chintana is trying to spread, trying to create awareness among youth. They will get inspiration by Gandhian thoughts. Gandhiji is respected all over the world. His ideals and thoughts on non violence have influenced the great leaders from different field. Martin Luther King, Nelson Mandela, Tibetian guru Sri Dalailama, Barak Obama, Einstein and many others were influenced by our father of the Nation. And how can we forget him? But we have to remind again and again.
With this view, to propagate Gandhian thoughts, we started Amara Bapu Chintana some 11 years ago. It is being welcomed by both young and senior citizens. We wish to continue our services to spread Gandhian thoughts. And expect our patrons to spread our efforts to people.
